Christine Giordano Hanlon, Esq. has served as Monmouth County Clerk since 2015, when she was elected in November of 2015 and re-elected to a second term in November of 2020. Since then, she has worked to modernize the office, launch several new initiatives, and improve outreach to the residents of Monmouth County. Prior to becoming Clerk, she practiced law for over 20 years, most recently at Archer & Greiner P.C. Her legal work focused on government affairs and municipal law. She is also a former Commissioner of the Monmouth County Board of Elections, serving as Secretary for two years.
Christine earned her law degree from Fordham University in 1992, following graduation from Barnard College at Columbia University. She served as Law Clerk to the Chief United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York, and then as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, New York.
Christine lives in Ocean Township with her husband and four children.
Christine has modernized and expanded the services of the Monmouth County Clerk's Office. Her initiatives include the creation of several new and easy to use websites, launching one of the first elections mobile phone applications in the State, and implementing a free property fraud alert subscription service. She has also worked to improve outreach to the residents of Monmouth County by implementing the Mobile County Connection to bring government services around the County, as well as initiating a "Your Vote Matters" program to teach voting fundamentals to high school students. Christine is the Immediate Past President of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) and a Past President of the Monmouth County S.P.C.A. and Monmouth Bar Association. She is a Trustee for the Monmouth Bar Foundation and Monmouth Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the State of New Jersey Blockchain Task Force.
Christine is the recipient of the 2023 Inaugural "Witty" Award for Government Service from the Women's Initiative Team (WIT) of Monmouth County, the 2022 Leader of Distinction Award from the Senior Citizens Activities Network (SCAN), the 2021 “Historic Preservation Award” from the Middletown Public Library, the 2020 “Woman of Distinction Award” from the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, the 2020 “Women in American History” Award from the New Jersey State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NJDAR), the 2019 “Silver Gull Award for Government Leadership” from the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council, the 2018 “Person of the Year Award” from the Monmouth County Fraternal Order of Police, Superior Officer’s Lodge #30, and the 2017 “Spinnaker Award for Public Service” from the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce. She is also a recipient of both the “Community Ambassador” and “Outstanding Chamber Service Award” from the Ocean Township Chamber of Commerce.
